Tottenham Hotspur Premiership prediction

While Spurs are rapidly improving optimism levels are high amongst fans, therefore where would you think Tottenham would realistically end up. Are Spurs going to be the Sevilla of La Liga and find themselves in a title race, or will they become victims of the media hype? Would you think that Spurs could fail to utilise the x factor in a bid to help them break into the top 4? There are many scenarios with thoughtful studies to back them, however, what is your gut instinct telling you vote now.

Transfer battle

If you thought football clubs could only battle on the pitch you are wrong because Tottenham and Manchester United are going neck on neck in this summers transfer window. Sporting Lisbon's agreement for Nani's transfer last night cancelled out Tottenham's lead when they signed the Welsh starlet. However, with the scores level both clubs are to set go for another transfer target Valencia's David Silva.

Nationality: Spanish
Age: 21
Position: Left wing, attacking midfield or striker
Goals: 4 goals in 34 appearances in06/07
Current clubs: Valencia

He has also been previously linked with moves to Liverpool and Chelsea. Reports are also suggesting that the player is not happy with life in Spain. One of his goals you might remember is the one against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in this year's UEFA Champions league quarter final.

£60 million war chest

News Of The World claims that Martin Jol is set to have been given a club record transfer kitty of £60 million and that doesn't even include the fee paid for Gareth Bale. White Hart Lane could see 3 or players coming in, the question however will these signings cause unrest the well formed team spirit of our current squad. Stability is the key to success, so
I have my doubts about whether too many changes is a good idea. I think we only need a left winger now that we have signed Gareth Bale, a play maker and a make shift centre back plus of course a striker to replace Mido. So it will be very interesting how Martin Jol will use the money, will he make unnecessary signings? I believe no matter who Martin Jol signs they should be given the time to adapt and that should be no problem anyways since we have a good squad already.

What are your thoughts.

Spurs miss out on Nani

It only took Manchester United to step up their interest in the young Portuguese winger. The fact that Cristiano Ronaldo inspires Nani to come to the Premiership was already a big hint of where the left winger would end up if an agreement was made.

I think Tottenham fans should be very optimistic and be thankful to the board for at least making the effort to sign top players like Nani and the will to battle it out with top clubs. I'm sure Martin Jol has plenty of alternatives and hopefully a top left winger will join our squad this season.

What are your thoughts on missing out on Nani, does the fact that we beat Manchester United to the signing of Gareth Bale overshadow this disappointment.

Your favourite 2006/2007 Spurs goal

Last season Tottenham fans have seen an astonishing amount of goals being scored, so which one would you consider as the best of them all. Your choice can be due to the momentum, importance, beauty or even the build up to the goal for you to decide. I myself will always remember Paul Robinson's goal against Watford, it just basically summed up Spurs season which was a season where goals were coming from all over the place. However, Berbatov's volley in the UEFA cup was a close second, so what was your goal of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur's quest to break into the top four

While some may suggest that the premiership's top four are the only consistent league finishers, Tottenham Hotspur have now finished fifth for the second season running. Their football has even been one of the best of the season, with their eventful draws and high scoring wins. It doesn't take a genius to recognize that Spurs are the most likeliest team to break into the top four.

Fans are optimistic as usual, however, the board itself is showing the same optimism by providing Martin Jol with an above average transfer kit. An early summer signing is just another justification of the board's real aim. The young Welsh starlet being heavily likened with a move to Manchester United joined Spurs instead. Numerous players being continuously linked with Spurs, gives the fans something to talk about and look forward to.

Martin Jol, D.Commoli and their footballing connections, can play a big role in convincing top players to join Spurs. Jol has already been described as a father figure by out of form Chelsea defender K.Bouhlarouz. Commoli himself speaks French as well as Portuguese in addition to fluent English, so negotiations will run smoothly.

Long term contract negotiations with likes of Berbatov hailed as the signing of the season is another positive move by the board. Michael Dawson's hundred percent commitment, arrival of potential summer signing Kaboul and with L.King eager to set behind an injury-ravaged season, Spurs surely will improve their astonishing 54 goals conceded.

Why can't Spurs break into top four next season based on the following scenario:

G.Bale settles at Spurs and adapts to life in the Premiership
King doesn't get injured as often as last year
Lennon plays on the right wing with M.G.Pedersen-Nani-Sneijder on the left.
Berbatov and Keane and Defoe continue their total of 60 goals per season.

With the addition of a play-maker such as Van der Vaart or Abdul Kader Keita, Spurs can maybe even go for the title. Let's not get carried away however, let's hope Spurs get at least silverware and European place next season.

What are your thoughts.
