Make or Break Season For Spurs
I try my best not to sound cocky or deluded, but then again the excitement breeds the need to mention Tottenham's chances of winning the Premiership. I am so excited about Spurs that as long as they have that mathematical chance of winning the title, I expect them to go for it based on the squad we have.
It is very simple season for Spurs, a shock display is very likely and most people should prepare themselves for it. Spurs will either really be chasing the title, good cup runs or whatever, if not that, they might even find themselves drifting down mid-table. That is how exciting Spurs are, I am really not predicting anything, all I know is that they won't finnish fifth.
Fortunately the chance of a Make season is more likely than a Break season. The scary bit however, if Spurs would fail to make it, then some players might decide to move on. Still Jol, Levy, and Commoli are good enough to find replacements, the problem however is, how much will it affect the team spirit, how will fans and players react.
I personally think, that exciting football must come first. If Tottenham score 3 or 4 goals now and then and have some good cup runs, I am more than pleased. Champions League spot is needed, but I can accept if it is not reached. However the manner on which Spurs miss out on a Champions League spot should be understandable, they should at least show that they have had a go.
What are your thoughts on the up coming Make or Break Season. Do you consider it as an Make or Break Season for Spurs....

Bent closes in on Tottenham...
Darren Bent is now ready to complete his signing with Tottenham this week after snubbing a move to Liverpool, and a £75,000 a week offer from Alan Curbishley.
Martin Jol is keen that Bent will be joining Spurs this season. Jol is looking for a striker to replace Berbatov if coming off as a substitute or injured. As Martin Jol is uncertain that Robbie Keane and Jermaine Defoe cannot play with each other up-front.
Bents move may also decide on Defoe's future at Spurs. The England international has 2 years left on his contract, and has already been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Bent could go Tottenham...
Darren Bent has turned down West Ham. Leaving Tottenham in pole position to bid for the Charlton Athletic striker after the Championship clubs relegation has been confirmed.
Charlton chief executive Peter Varney told his club's official website on Thursday: "We set a valuation for Darren and West Ham were the only club prepared to meet that valuation.
"This morning we gave them permission to speak to Darren, which he did, and he has decided not to join West Ham.
"We therefore look forward to Darren starting with us in the Championship next season, which is a massive boost to our chance of returning to the Premier League."
A West Ham spokesman confirmed the deal was not moving forward, adding: "A fee had been agreed between West Ham and Charlton but it was not possible to reach an agreement with the player.
"West Ham have been considering a number of options in terms of a new striker for the club and will now be pursuing alternatives."

Signing of last season...
Dimitar Berbatov was named top transfer of 2006/07 season for Spurs, While Chelsea's Andriy Shevchenko was named a flop!
Berbatov was considered to be worth more than 14 times his weight in gold in a study carried out by a top university professor.
Professor Tom Cannon from Buckinghamshire University and his researchers calculated the true value of last season's signings to their clubs and found that the Spurs striker came out on top with Shevchenko failing to make the top 10.
The study was carried out to mark the launch of 'Goal 2' on Disney DVD, which follows the fortunes of a fictional young player in the Premiership who dreams of playing for Real Madrid.
Professor Cannon commented: "When looking at the true value of a player to his club, the transfer value only tells half the story.
"To get the complete picture we had to measure the overall contribution they make, the rapport with the fans and their ability to make contributions at the right time.
"Players like (West Ham striker) Carlos Tevez and Berbatov have been enormously valuable to their clubs because not only do they score crucial goals and make a huge contribution on the field, they also have the intangible qualities that make them a firm favourite with the fans."

Torres Transfer...
Athletico Madrid are ready to release their captain Fernando Torres next week.
The news will attract the attention of Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. This will set a transfer battle between the top 5 premiership clubs.
Athletico have failed to qualify for Europe this season, and are expected to lose Fernando Torres who has scored 82 goals in 212 league games with the club, accoring to 'THEspursweb.com'.
The 23 year old has been linked with Martin Jol last season, where Jol decided Spurs needed a brand new striker, either out of Berbatov or Fernando Torres. Dimitar has been a fantastic signing for Spurs this season, But Martin Jol is keen on a bid for another striker to brake into the top 4 to qualify for the Champions League.

The new Aaron Lennon
Liverpool are also apparently fighting Spurs on two fronts, with one battle being rumoured as a Spurs' victory. David Silva has confirmed that he would rather move to London instead of Liverpool. Athletico Madrid star Fernando Torres surely must prove how ridiculous the transfer gossip is, no offence but I'm sure most Spurs fans agree that it is getting silly now.
The young Stevenage lad however, who plays as a right wing has already been the history books of the new Wembley, as he is the first player to be Man of the Match in a competitive game at Wembley.
This is definitely good news for anti-foreigner supporters, Martin Jol has not forgotten to look at English talent as well. Some Spurs fans may have got worried about all these foreigners being linked with Tottenham with young English talent being completely ignored.
I myself think a manager shouldn't be looking at passports rather than talent, but then again you may disagree. However, all parties should be happy as Martin Jol is definitely keeping the balance right. He deserves the credit from all Spurs fans, as he is really trying to favour young English players, but at the same time also brings in top class players.
What are your thoughts.

Mido Exit?
Birmingham City are the latest club to make a move for Spurs fourth choice striker.
Towards the end of the season 'Mido' refered as playing for Tottenham was a 'Big Mistake', and would want to play for a club where he would have first team play.
Birmingham are ahead of Athletico Madrid and Bolton, who have been linked with signing Mido this summer.
Manchester City's Ex-Manager Stuart Pearce was close to signing the Egyptian forward in the January transfer windows. The deal then fell threw in the last minute when Spurs decided to keep Mido for the rest of the season, Until now.

Spurs transition
Tottenham transfers may have been limited because they aren't as big as their competitors, things are changing rapidly and positively too. White Hart Lane has welcomed just above average, out of favour internationals, attitude ravaged talents and over-rated players. The last two years have gone very positive for Spurs, who have beaten Manchester Utd to Bale's signature.
Signing of big name players does not only justify the club's size if not that it at least contributes to the transition of the club from small to big. Tottenham are now publishing themselves as a major club although they haven't won any silverware their squad is one to be reckoned with.
I can not but feel sorry for Aston Villa's supposedly interest in Wesley Sneijder, I think most Spurs are starting to realise how it feels to be the bigger club. I can't see how Villa can beat Spurs to the signature of Sneijder who wants Champions League and leave Ajax.
UEFA cup is not the only thing that Tottenham can offer the Dutch star, but their attractive football and exciting quest to finish in the top 4 surely could inspire him to join Spurs.

The Left Wing Hunt
Name: Wesley Sneijder
Current club: Ajax (Holland)
Position: Midfield central or left
Speciality: two footed, freekicks, strong on the ball with great passing
Chance: Low: wants Champions League football
Goals: 18Name: Morten Gamst Pedersen
Current club: Blackburn Rovers (England)
Position: left wing or midfield in either 442 or 433
Speciality: strong left foot, free kick specialist, good crosses
Chance: Med: wants Champions League football
Goals: 8 and 12 assists
With Martin Jol is heavily equipped the hunting has begun, White Hart Lane will surely bring in a new left winger. The question however who would you like to see, do you want an above average premiership proven winger, highly rated foreign youngster, aging but experienced international or even splash out on a top class winger? The money and ambition is there, all we need is to attract the big players. Sneijder, MGP and many more have already been mentioned in recent fan discussions I will update this article over the following days. In the mean time, would you advice Jol to stay at home or go abroad for this hunt?

Spurs' bid to unite Bulgarian's
Martin Jol's left flank problem could be solved by signing Athletico Madrid's Martin Petrov. The 28 year old Bulgarian has confirmed that there is a genuine interest from Tottenham, although no official offers were made. On the other hand however, his compatriot, high scoring Dimitar Berbatov has already said that he was happy about these speculations.
He was quoted as saying "I bought a newspaper and saw the rumors linking Martin Petrov with Tottenham. I am pleased to see this but these things will be decided on a much higher level than me and him. It is always a good thing to have a compatriot with you but for the moment things remain as they were before."
Being asked whether there is a good chance of Petrov joining him at White Hart Lane, Berbatov said: "Nothing is impossible in football nowadays. We will see."
This made me think that if Spurs were to sign Petrov then Berbatov's Tottenham commitment would be inevitable. I believe this will convince him to stay at Spurs for 3 maybe 4 years, unlike speculations suggesting that he would leave Spurs next season if they fail to get a Champions League spot.
